Yes, unfortunately you do.
So, when I have the default output set to my Virtual Cable then Syrinscape works fine. The second I change the default audio output from my Virtual Cable to my speakers Syrinscape only plays from my default audio output of my speakers. My players can no longer hear it over discord. I have gone over all the videos but have so far been unable to get this to work. Is there ANY plans for Syrinscape to add in a setting to change the audio output? If not there really should be, a work around is fine for a short period of time but long term it is unrealistic.
Basically what I am finding is that Syrinscape is in fact following whatever the default output device is no matter what.
First off welcome! Second, they are working on that ability so right now I have a workaround. You can use a small free program called audio router. See this video
Jump to 34:51 so you donāt need to watch my entire video!
Yes, like @lordgwydione said itās something that we are working on adding. Syrinscape is built using the powerful Unity Engine, which is partly what allows for the apps 3D sound. Oddly the older versions of the engine didnāt allow for changes to audio output, it just defaulted to what was active when the program launched. Thankfully the newer version allows for a lot more flexibility, which means we can finally look at adding it as an option
You just sold a sub.
Awesome!!! Thank you very much. I finagled a work around for my game tonight, but I will go through this and get a better setup for my next game as well as my standard gaming. You are a champion!!
Iām having this same issue actually.
- Start both Discord Instances
- Set Windows Output
- Launch Syrinscape
- Wait wait wait wait
- Confirm its playing in Discord via cable
- Change Windows Output back
- Syrinscape starts playing through my headphones instead of Discord
In the image, you can see the input bar moving in Discord which represents the sound functioning. In the second, you see it is not.
So sorry for the delay!!! I just saw this. Ben and team are testing the ability to change the output device so there have been a lot of reports that the old way of ātrickingā syrinscape like the method above isnāt working. There is a workaround. If you use audiorouter (free program) you can force syrinscape to play back where you want it. You can see more info on it in this video I prepared:
Go to 34:51 in the video where I talk about audiorouter. Keep me posted.
Thanks for this @lordgwydione! Yes, work on being able to change the output device is looking really promising. We are looking forward to being able to post up more information on that soon.
In the meantime, this is a great workaround
Took a few mins to configure things just right but definitely worked!
Hello there,
I just started with Syrinscapeā¦great!
Butā¦how can I use it with Discordā¦running Syrinscape and Discord on a iMac und BigSur?
Voicemeeter doesnāt support MacOSā¦
Hey @g.romano. Unfortunately Iām not a mac user so all my video tutorials are for windows. However, you might check out a product called blackhole which I believe is free. Here is an article:
Oh⦠One more thing. If you only need the virtual audio cables and donāt care about the full program, voicemeeter did release audio cables for the mac. You can find them on the link below. The first is free and the rest donationware.
Thanks for your prompt help!
Unfortunatelyā¦it doesnāt work.
I do not know how to configure the VB.
Obviously Syrinscape isnāt supporting MACsā¦I mean if you want to link Discord and Syrinscape in MacOS.
Got it. One thing you might try is to use the VB-cable setup only. So, download the free cable and then, although I know my video is geared toward windows, hopefully the video I created on how to set it up should still be helpful. See the video below and keep us posted if you were able to get it to work.
Thanks a lot for this solution.
It works.
The sound quality is not the bestā¦but I think about a server boost.
Neverthelessā¦many thanks @lordgwydione for your fast and great support!
g.romano if you want quality, the only way to get it is to use a bot to connect to your channel. Check my post about the Syrinscape discord bot. Someone had boosted their server to maximum, and it wasnāt even great at the highest bit rate. But bot worked great for them and bots have the highest / best audio because they are meant to be music bots and pump stereo surround through.
Yep. For anyone wanting to stay with discord for their sound streams, the setup @Amerisun has in his video looks great and seems like a tremendous option to upgrade quality. Amerisun is right that the only quality option is the bot given that it is in stereo whereas the ānormalā connection options are for mics and are mono.
