“ACCESS HAS BEEN GRANTED MORTALS”

Oh great magnanimous and ominpotent Friend Computer! This is your LOYAL and non-mutant non-commie RED Troubleshooter seeking permission to have access to the SuperSyrin Creator app, provided I have proper security clearance for it.

The Computer is our friend.

Ben, I have had the pleasure of chatting with you the last two years at Paizo-Con. I am the screeches for the Grioth in the Dragon’s Demand released last summer (winter to you). That was a lot of fun.
Robert “Frostrazor”

Probationary access has been @Frostrazor but know this. WE are watching you! Our laser guns are trained on your soft bits! One false move and you’ll be another clone down!!!

(Note the credit in the new “Grioth Battle” SoundSet. THANKS so much for your weird vocal abilities! :dragon:)

Although I appreciate all the work Benjamin has done on all the sounds sets and have purchased a few of them. I will custom build every one of my sets for my specific campaign and different board games I play, I’ve been using sound in role-playing for 35 years now. I don’t mind sharing and letting my work be used by others, I don’t mind my work being on a server but I want my work also for myself on my computer. I have over 3000 sound effects files that I have painstakingly saved for the last 30 years I have my own, I was one of the first people to use RPG mixer a German RPG effects recorder and player and and promoted that product at gaming conventions, but now it’s folded. I have seen a lot of RPG companies come and go that had bright hope and promise but are not here today so I believe my perspective has the wisdom of years of observation.

I also invested quite a bit of money into the Game Excillis which was a computer moderated miniatures game that the company insisted had to be accessed only through a server, now the company went belly up and took down their server so after spending thousands of dollars on the game I simply can’t play it,why because the game was server dependent, such systems often fail in the real world . What happens if Benjamin dies tomorrow, falls in love with and Elven Princess who takes him off to a land far away or the dozens and dozens of things that happen in everyday life that change the course of things ? There’s lots of reasons why this company my not be here tomorrow. if I have a program and my own files I’ll be sad but I’ll still be able to use my work in gaming.

What I hear from Benjamin reply is that I can put together my content with a subscription and then use the player to play it during the gaming session. Do I have to be on the net to accomplish playing the files? and I have to pay five dollars to do that correct?.

What I would feel very comfortable with is if at least i can download my own files on my computer and play them from my computer without having to access the server. All His content and shared content of others can be accessed only by the server. and I don’t mind uploading my content to the server for others to use. I want and somtinme need to be able to take my laptop to a place with no iternet and play my sound sets, I don’t think that’s asking too much. It would be nice if someday the recorder was also available off-line for purchase and I hope that will be considered at some point. if I know I can play my own stuff anywhere then I will support this company .

Hopefully you’ve contacted screaming bee voice moeph, I talked to them years ago about developing a RPG specific voice changing skin that would plug into things like Realm Works, programs where you could press on the NPC and it would automatically change your voice to that character. I do a lot of pre-recording NPC character monologues using the voice morphing so at the appropriate time I can just play that file I also have a narrator voice, and use my voice for meta-gaming discussions. Voice morphing would be a wonderful addition and bring in a whole other set of users, as predominantly the community that uses screaming Bee, is the online gaming community.

I completely agree with yosefnbender. I profoundly dislike the subscription model. 120$/year is far more than services like spotify that gives you for the same money. I’ll gladly pay 120$ up front for a real license. I don’t understand why there isn’t a mixed model (subscription and ultimate license) like people at fantasy grounds do.

And to be honest, I purchased a supersyrin subscription to have a working creator that lets me upload my own files for my personal use. Having to send the files to the program creator to have them uploaded defeats even the purpose of beta testing, because as it stands now, you have to send finished content instead of your own silly testing, in order to not annoy ben.

And to this:
“1) The stuff you build will NEVER be deleted from our server”

Paraphrasing Anthony McAuliffe, “Nuts!”

Hi Benjamin, I’m back after a long break, may I have access to the sound creator, please?

120$/year is far more than services like Spotify

Wot?! $120/year is precisely the same as Spotify!
And once you stop subscribing to Spotify you never get to keep anything at all!

In June we released 8 SoundSets at a value of $31.92
Subscribers who paid $10 in June get permanent ownership of these SoundSets.
I think that sounds like a great deal to me.
PLUS you get full use of the Creator.

What is “Nuts!” about us keeping your stuff safe on our server in case after a break of subscribing, you want to activate it again?!?

@yosefnbender

Uploading to the server is just so the stuff you build becomes like any other SoundSets you have access to and can be downloaded onto your other devices. You can play the thing you build within the Creator without uploading them.

You only need web access in Syrinscape to download new content.

You’ll be able to play the stuff you have built on your iPad (or other non creator device) without web access, just like you can with any regular Syrinscape SoundSet.

The public will NOT have access to the content you build, unless you specifically propose that it be made Community Content, and it is approved.

Sense makes?

@advalencia Access has been granted!
