Anyone using Foundry VTT?

Heya everybody, :trumpet:

We have something we’ve been working hard on for Foundry users.

Is there anyone here who might be willing to help us test it a bit?

It will work with Foundry 13, so you’ll need to be able to get that up and running.

We would especially love to bring in people who have been using SyrinControl (@frondeus’s AMAZINGLY shiny extension :high_brightness: which will sadly no longer work with V13), so they can compare and contrast and check for things that should/could be working in this new thing.

Jump on and reply here if you’ve got a little time to help!

THANKS IN ADVANCE! :pizza: :fire_engine:

I’ll throw my hat in the ring as well. I did respond to another thread as well - but can’t seem to find it to cut-n-paste my caveats from. I’ll help as I can as I would love to see this type of integration get solidifed.

I’d love to help, big Fan of SyrinControl and something official would be awesome!

So, if you still need help testing stuff - hit me up!

I’ve been wanting to use it with foundry/forge for a while, but haven’t gotten around to it. I’d love to help out and basically go in blind.

Heya all,

Sooo… the new thing is out. Still a bit of work to do on, but it’s certainly getting there. :robot: :hammer:

It only works with V13 and not in Forge yet, I think.

Here it is:

Please DO try it out and then give us some feedback here. You can take a look at the issues already described here https://github.com/MetaMorphic-Digital/syrinscape-control/issues so you don’t have to duplicate feedback, if you like.

SOOO glad to get this happening!

Unfortunately, not being able to use anything from Syrinscape as an ambient sound on a scene with a radius applied, and only being able to use it as a blanket playlist for an entire scene, leaves this as pretty pointless. It doesn’t allow doing anything that wasn’t already completely possible through the use of Kenku+Discord, which is super disappointing. For this to be an effective tool to really be utilized by DMs inside of Foundry, it needs to be usable with the Foundry ambient sound system.

Does this module work with purchased soundsets if you don’t have a subscription?

It does yes. The Syrinscape Controller allows you to play any content that you own or have access to.

Though it’s true power is unleashed with a subscription and access to all of our content.

Well, I just recently updated to v13 on foundry, checked syrinscape because wanted to make sure it was working for that, and it showed yes. I subscribed, but this syrinscape browser in foundry is odd. You can’t search for specific soundsets?? Also, the previous soundsets that I had set up also don’t seem to work. Is there no search function where you can type? All I see is dropdown lists…and what shows there is limited…

Well after refreshing the listing using that button, which didn’t seem to do anything, but then i refreshed my browser and that added a bunch, but there still isn’t a way to search. Like there is no search field, only filters that I see

I subscribed and set up my auth, trying to use the module and can’t find the rise of the runelords soundsets.

Ok good news is I got it working now I think. Bad news is its really quiet.

HI @papermonkeylord

You may have a rogue LOW volume setting on your Web Player from a previous usage that maybe you can’t access via the Foundry integration.

Try opening a basic player link, which will look like this:
_https://app.syrinscape.com/YOURSESSIONID/player/

And slide the volume on that page up to 100%

Helps?

Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. I’ve been tinkering with it for an upcoming session and for now it seems to works pretty similarly to how Syrincontrol did - but I’m seeing a whole lot of fuctions that are waiting to become useful: The individual tracks having drop downs for a choice of Mood or Element, the ability to import individual elements from a Soundset (although they probably shouldn’t be in a One Shots tab)

One thing I do wonder about is the recommendation to only Refresh the listing once a week. Why? Webtraffic related I assume - but I’m finding in my work flow I really want to do it more often. I have two browser tabs open - one for Foundry & one for Syrinscape. I create a soundset with multiple moods. Then, I import them into Foundry. I almost always then find a new mood I want to add to the imported playlist. It seems that without a “refresh listing” and a refresh of the Foundry browser page I can’t get the revised soundset to show up in the import list.

Looking forward to hearing more.

Syaing you can download only once a week is probably a bit intense.

Our API docs say:
Only download this file periodically per user (e.g. once per week, inline with our release schedule) or on demand (e.g. after a user has modified a private soundset).

So the developer probably (partially) copied it from there.

We’ve had a couple of people build things that were doing the bulk download once a second  which definitely broke things.

So, as our API docs say, "on demand, after [you have] modified a private SoundSet is totally fine.

Can you point me to where that wording is, and I get it revised?
