You Know What I'd Like To See/Hear?

What I’d like to see is some generic SoundSets for various typical places we’re likely to come across in our gaming. SoundSets like Brindal Town, Dungeon Depths and Friendly Tavern. Not necessarily ones with a battle attached, just some background mood music and some appropriate one-shots.

I’m think locations (both night and day, sunny and rainy) such as:

  • A Tavern
  • Desert
  • Swamp
  • Farm
  • Forest
  • Plains
  • Seashore
  • Mountains
  • Small Village
  • Medium Town
  • Large City
  • In a Temple
  • In a small parish Church
  • In a Graveyard
  • In a Market
  • In some Caverns
  • On a Ship
  • On the Docks
  • Near a Volcano
  • On a Glacier
  • In a Dungeon
  • Meeting with a Patron
  • On an Infernal Plane of Existence
  • On an Angelica Plane of Existence
  • On the Astral / Ethereal Plane
  • On the four Elemental Planes
  • On a Spelljammer (a fantasy wooden ship in space)
  • In a Castle
  • In a (Dwarven) Mine
  • In an Elven Tree City
  • In a Halfling Village
  • In a savage (head hunter) village
  • In a nomad camp
  • In a chariot race
  • Oriental versions of the above
  • Aztec versions of the above
  • Arabian Nights versions of the above

Plus, I’d also like to see more PC-centric one-shots, so that we can have a male thief finding a trap (as well as the existing femal one) and a female fighter carving it up, and a male cleric doing his thing as well, plus the various weapons that we don’t have (mace, halberd, flail, and even fisty-cuffs).

Now, admittedly, I haven’t gone through every SoundSet, so some of what I’m suggesting does already exist, but how about we as a Community come up with a list of such locations and one-shots - you said you’d like some suggestions @benjamin, so here you go

Cheers

All good!

And all noted.

It is actually quite AMAZING just how many sounds there are still left to do.

I don’t think our work is anywhere NEAR done yet!

I’d have to agree with your list. More weather conditions would also be nice. Since I do D&D and not Pathfinder, all those adventure sets don’t really work for me without lots of planning and work. Generics are way better.

I might make the soundset so that things like weather would have light rain, heavy, thunder and lightning, etc. as the options to choose. Taverns could have different classes and even multiples of the same class. (you can never have too many taverns)

I agree that some of these are probably already there but I never seem to be able to find them. An option to help lazy guys like me would be a living index of what is available. There are some great sounds out there but since they are buried in sets I don’t look at, I will never find them.

I have to agree with you both, the Pathfinder sets are great BUT I don’t play Pathfinder so the names don’t mean anything to me. A few new generic sets would be great, I loved the original Friendly Tavern, Tavern Brawl, Highseas battle etc.

With regards to the living index we already have one, if you use the PC version type a keyword into the bar on the top left of the screen and the soundsets containing that word should appear. I don’t think its yet on Mac or tablet platforms but it should follow shortly. I think there’s a lot of ‘tags’ that still need adding but it certainly helps

Thanks for the tip. I had missed that somehow. You still have to guess the right keyword of course but it certainly helps find things.

And now keyword search is working on MAC and Android too.

As soon as Apple approves the iOS versions, then it will be working there too!

Yay!
