Utterly confused where my purchase has gone - RESOLVED

SoI’m really confused and just about every interface on the website, logged in experience, online software, and downloaded software isn’t helping.

I just bought Cthuhu, Masks of Nyarlathotep London and Egypt. Registered. Confirmed registration. Paid. Got the receipt.

Cool.

No download links and no instructions on next steps. Now I’m puzzled.

So download the software I guess? downloaded, installed, logged in.

Oh, there’s a massive list of sound files? Okay I’ll scroll through all of them, perhaps Masks is in there? nope!
Um, I’ll search for it …
Mon - NOPE!
Mask? NOPE!
Nya - NOPE!

Hm, okay, I’ll go back online, perhaps my account will show them listed or something? - NOPE!

Okaaayyy … maybe the software has an “install sound pack” option - NOPE!

Well, dayum. Maybe the campaigns section online lists London and Egypt and I have to add them to my campaigns? - NOPE!

uhhhhh - maybe the online version will have a better experience? - NOPE! You need to be subscribed.

So now I’m just lost. Purchase made, confirmation received … and … I guess I now just regret chucking $20 bucks away? shrug

help?

First thing, that might be a solution: which player have you downloaded and installed - the Fantasy player or the SciFi player? All Call of Cthulhu stuff is located in the SciFi player.

When you open the player there’s a drop down list in the upper left corner. There you can control, which soundsets are shown. If you choose the “purchased” option, it should show you Cthulhu soundsets. If you click on any of them, an install dialogue pops up in the main view screen.

Thanks for your email. Is everything working properly now you have the sci-fi Player installed?

Yes, everything is resolved. thank you. The multiple players thing is confusing, I will admit and the campaigns interface more tricky than most cadcam software I’ve used, but the sound quality is awesome.

@kolyana The online player does not require a subscription for use with a single device, and it has access to content from all genres.

The online player does require a subscription for remote play (so remote players can hear the same audio as the GM through their local device) and to create your own soundsets.

Did you actually load up the online player and still couldn’t find your soundset? If so, there may be a bug that we need to investigate.

nah, just selecting any of my campaigns or purchased sounds or free sounds in the left rail gives the following error: Audio playback is unavailable. You have no active Syrinscape Online (beta) Player connected. Download for Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android.

I knew that a subscription was required for group activity, but when I got this error just selecting my sounds, that’s when I dropped it as a non-starter.

(incidentally, my player is connected to my device: Devices (computer, phone, tablet) with the Syrinscape Online (beta) Player installed and linked to your account. Only one can be active at a time.)

@kolyana Thanks, that’s really useful feedback. That warning is intended to let people know that the online player (app) is needed for actual audio playback.

Syrinscape Online only uses the browser as a control interface, it does not send audio through the browser. The Online Player app (a Unity3D app) provides audio playback so we can position audio samples in 3D space and have them moving towards/away from the listener and apply reverb effects, etc.

I’ll try to make this more obvious.

@kolyana I’ve updated the text in this warning to make it much more obvious that the master interface is a controller for the online player (app), and provided a link to the PIN entry page as well as downloads, and also removed the blackout effect over the rest of the interface, so you can still scroll and search the soundset list or make small changes to a soundset (if you are a SuperSyrin) without having to launch the online player.

I just checked that out and it is now VERY clear; I think had that been there last week I would not have been confused and would have understood the next steps. Nice update, thank you.
