Urban Fantasy/Noir a la Dresden Files

I can play with a lot of the fantasy mixed with Modern Weapons to create some pretty good moods, but that essentially requires me to be in charge of it. I’d love to see some urban fantasy or noir sets to really get that vibe going for a Dresden Files RPG, and I’m sure a lot of other games in similar settings.

Here is where the Sci-Fi player really helps, because there are some modern-day “2015” sets, with real world sounds. There is a City Street, Coffee House, Office, House Party, and Beach. Chuck in magic sounds either from any number of magic sets, or from the “Spellcaster” sets from the Board Game player, and that takes care of a lot of your sounds.

Add in sound elements from “Spooky”, “Shimmering Veils”, “Disjunction Chamber” for atmosphere, and you’re pretty close to set.

Ah, perfect! I didn’t realize the Sci-Fi player had modern day as well, that pretty much does the trick. Thanks!

There’s a couple of sets that would be perfect for you. Try Earth Elemental, Fire Elemental and Toxic Spirit. Also if you have a Supersyrin subscription then try adding “Ezren-male wizard” or “Kryra-female cleric” from fantasy into any of the modern day tracks from the sci-fi player. Loads of great possibilities

Indeed, I saw all of those (except the Toxic Spirit, I missed that the first time through, that has some excellent stuff!), and I was cackling earlier today at the possibilities. Thanks again for the assistance!

Dresden is on my wishlist to run and GM. I DEFINITELY want to use or develop a soundset along these lines… In the future I’ll make use of the advice on this thread.

Awesome! don’t forget to share it with us all!

“Star Trek?” I asked her. “Really?”
“What?” she demanded, bending unnaturally black eyebrows together.
“There are two kinds of people in the universe, Molly,” I said. “Star Trek fans and Star Wars fans. This is shocking.”
She sniffed. “This is the post-nerd-closet world, Harry. It’s okay to like both.”
“Blasphemy and lies,” I said.”
