Hello: I have been connecting to the web player using the Kenku app for about 2 years, with no trouble, but tonight Syrinscape stopped playing in Kenku. I get this error message: " Syrinscape Web Player is not supported on Safari. Try Chrome , Edge or Firefox , instead." Has Syrinscape changed its browser support in the last 24 hours? I recognize this could be a Kenku-only issue, but thought I would check here first.
Hi @scott.nagel,
That’s weird and frustration. :-/
We have NOT changed our browser support recently or, in fact, made any changes to the Web Player in the past 7 days.
Hmmm… can you reach out to the creators of Kenku? Did it get an update?
If you run Syrinscape directly in Safari on your machine (presuming you are using a MAC), does it work there?
Have you tried in a different machine…
…I’ll also think and ask the dev team if they have any ideas.
Shoot through any addition info as you gather it.
Good hunting!
Thanks for responding, Ben! This is like getting iPhone support from Steve Jobs! (you know, when he was alive…) I am not, however, on a Mac. I am running Windows 11 Home, and I do not even have Safari installed. I am able to run the Syrinscape web app fine, in Firefox, my normal browser.
Got this response from the community manager for the publishers on reddit:
Kenku FM runs the Electron browser, which uses the Chromium engine, so it seems like Syrinscape might be mis-identifying the web client?
If you’re running the latest Kenku FM v1.5.1 (stable) or v1.6.3-experimental, then your Electron version would be v37.4.0, which includes Chromium v138.0.7204.243 - Syrinscape support might appreciate having those details!
Asked him when 1.5.1 was released, and he said yesterday, so it definitely seems like their last update caused Syrinscape’s mis-identification of Kenku’s built-in browser.
I have not yet tried Kenku on my backup PC, but I will give that a try, as well.
Not sure what, if any action was taken on your end, but this issue seems to have resolved itself. The online player is playing in Kenku’s built-in browser, as expected.
