Soundset grayed out in My Campaigns, not available to download in Fantasy Player

Edit: I uploaded two soundsets, each below 100 MB, and they show up in My Campaigns, but I can’t download them in the Fantasy Player. Please help before 4pm tomorrow. SE15 - Familiar Faces and SE15a - The Dreams in Which I’m Dying are their names.

Original Post:

Hiya.

I assume this soundset is just too big, because it’s for the big climax, so I went overboard. But last week I uploaded one version that never showed up, so I tried again last night. The name is SE14-lmno - The Stranger. (I promise, the naming scheme makes sense to me.)

Any idea why it shows up on my account on this website under My Campaigns, but isn’t available for download? Should I split it into two smaller soundsets and try again?

From what it looks like, the soundset before that topped out at a whooping 145MB download size.

If this is even bigger, you should probably try to split it into two soundsets. The magic barrier to go for is roughly 100MB.

Edit: On the other hand, the server seems to be rather sluggish again. Come the Australian morning, @benjamin might look at things.

I split it in two, and both SE15 and SE15a show up in my campaigns, but aren’t available for download. I hope Benjamin knows an easy fix for this.

As always, thanks for the product and the support.

Poke? Any chance you can figure out what’s up before 4pm tomorrow Eastern US time?

Soundsets got stuck on the server, but that should be fixed now, from what i can see. What you can try - go to the settings keg in the player and hit reload. Close the window and search for your soundset by typing in the name in the upper left corner. As it is on the server, it should be found now.

Sorry, nope. I clicked on the cog, chose reload a half dozen times, saw it say ‘Loading’ a half dozen times, and tried searching for the name a few different ways. No luck. I closed the program, tried it again. No luck.

Again, the soundsets show up on this site under ‘Your Campaigns,’ but I can’t get them into the Fantasy Player. I can see numerous other soundsets I’ve uploaded, but not ones from the past two weeks.

Is there maybe some sort of backlog on my account? Like, something is stuck processing and is keeping the newer stuff from showing up? I could try uploading it again with a new name, but I worry that would just compound the problem.

Also tried restarting my computer, logging out of Syrinscape and logging back in, deleting some old soundsets I don’t need any more in case, like, I needed to ‘free up space’ (though no one’s ever given me a sense of whether I’m getting near to a limit).

None of it helped.

I’m wondering if I upset a witch or something, who put a curse on me. I feel like I have more problems with this program than a lot of other users.

I’ve looked at all the filenames again, and none of them are particularly long or have any weird characters. I can play everything in the Soundset Creator, but I’m going to be running at a friend’s house in 12 hours, so short of carrying my desktop computer over there . . .

Well, okay. As a backup I’m going to export the soundset, take the samples and create playlists that can play with VLC, then slap that into a flash drive. Not quite as easy to use, but it’ll get the job done, I s’pose.

As a last resort: can you create a simple soundset (like one mood) from sounds that are originally from Syrinscape and see, if that upload goes through the whole way?
Maybe there’s something wrong with a sample in your sets. You did choose a category for the soundsets to show up in? It happens to me now and then that I simply forget to set a category, which could lead to these type of errors.
If that’s not the case then shoot a request to support@syrinscape.com

@ryanznock We’ve just deployed a change to the server that I think might be related to the issue you have experienced. I can see that you have one campaign with two soundsets, and I can see that these are showing up in the available chapters data that should be sent to your player. Can you please try again?

@ryanznock UPDATE: I’ve done some more digging, and I don’t think the recent server change will help with your issue. I can see that your uploaded soundsets are being sent to players as campaigns, but the actual detail of the soundsets is not being sent and does not seem to exist (at least fully) on the server.

Without having any evidence to back it up, I suspect the large size of the upload could be causing the import to exceed the time limit for imports OR there could be (at least) one sample that we are unable to transcode, and that’s preventing the import from completing successfully.

Could you private message me a URL to download the exported soundset you are trying to upload? If you attempt another upload from the creator, then while the upload is in progress open the samples directory (via the tray icon or menubar app) then navigate up one directory and look in the export directory, you should find the zip that is being uploaded. Send me a dropbox or google drive link to that file, and I can test it to find out why the import is failing.

SonOfConan, yeah, there were two soundsets that were just blank when I downloaded them from the server. Weird.

I ended up exporting the files locally, and I noticed a possible cause of the problem. I had tried to create a looping track, but I couldn’t make it sound right in my audio editor. So as a kludge I just saved a second copy of the file with a number 2 appended to the filename, then uploaded that so I could have them crossfade into each other, and it sounds fine.

When I exported the soundset and digged into the files, though, I saw that only one copy of the audio track was there. So just now I made a newer ‘part 2,’ and made sure to tweak it just a bit so it wasn’t a complete duplicate. (I don’t know if maybe the server doesn’t like two files to have the same contents but different names.) Then I exported that, and there’s a file for it. It appears it has transcoded fine.

So I’m uploading that now as SE14q - Familiar Faces.

As for your other request, I don’t know what folder you were talking about, but I’ve got to run to my game anyway, so if it doesn’t work I’ll figure it out some other time.

No luck. What the flip?

@ryanznock We deduplicate identical files, as we have many elements that use the same samples etc. I wouldn’t have thought that would cause a failure to import.

Sorry about the confusing export instructions. I forgot there’s an export button right there in the creator.

If you still have exports of the SE15 soundsets that were failing to upload, send me a link to download them from Dropbox or Google drive etc., and I’ll run some tests.

Well, deduping things on my end seemed to fix it.

Excellent!

So to be clear, you had Elements with the same name?

@ryanznock It’s possible that while we generally deduplicate identical files (with the same or different names) on the server and in the creator export, we may be prematurely cleaning up files during the import process that still have other references yet to be processed. I should be able to test that theory.

Your earlier message said no luck after attempting the upoad with slightly different versions of that sample, but it sounds like you managed to upload it in the end?
