Soundset Creator Launch Trouble - FIXED

When I double click to open the Soundset Creator from my start menu, I have a really hard time getting it to actually launch. Last night I restarted my computer and then it finally launched, but today the same issue is back. It doesn’t show as running in the task manager either…

Also, is there a specific order I should be launching this stuff in? (ie: 1st open the player, 2nd open a web browser, 3rd open the Soundset Creator) or does the order even matter?

Hi @killingmockingbirds, to open the Syrinscape SoundSet Creator you should only need to click on the desktop icon, the Creator itself will then open the browser and it’s own player (Which appears in the tray). when you say its not opening does anything happen at all?

When did you download the creator, one of the known issues is that the server will not allow older versions to open

I downloaded the creator last night so I am assuming that is a really recent version.

There is another thread I just found where someone describes my same issue but there wasn’t a resolution posted.

When I click the shortcut, the computer display lays the little “I’m thinking” cursor on my mouse (like it’s pretending it’s going to actually be launching the program). After a second or two, the “I’m thinking” cursor changes back to the regular cursor, and nothing else ever happens. The program never launches at all. I can click the shortcuts 100 times with the same result.

As soon as I restart the computer, the creator will launch just fine from the shortcut. If I close it, I basically have to restart the computer to open it again.

Also, when it does start the program after a computer restart, the creator won’t always auto-launch the browser- sometimes the little window shows up saying “ready” and then it does nothing. At that point, if I open the browser and navigate to the creator URL in my history (which looks like an IP address) it will then work correctly.

Ah ok that actually makes a lot of sense. Basically when you close the program you are just minimizing it. If you look in your tray (little arrow by the clock) you should still see the little Syrinscape symbol. You can right click on this and tell it to quit, which will shut it down or tell it to open interface, which will open the browser again. In the current build once you upload a soundset you need to fully quit and then reopen the program for it to properly work again.

Hope that makes sense?

That was exactly the issue.

There really should be an in-depth PDF manual, or even a wiki that leaves no stone unturned for documentation on how both the player and the creator work. YouTube videos inevitably miss things (like this) and a PDF is much easier to refer to when you forget something than scrubbing a video to try and find the thing that was said.

I know the devs are working hard, and I know the creator is still beta- this is just my observation and suggestion for the future. In the meantime, you have been excellent at helping here on the forum, and I really appreciate it.

We are working on us but the Dev’s keep beating us to it and bringing out new content! I will be posting up a FAQ for the Creator soon though, which will hopefully cover most of it and yes as soon as the Creator hits full release there will be some form of guide on how to use it

Glad you got it all working now though and I’m more than happy to help where I can

Yep, yep, yep and :cookie:

A all inclusive guide sounds like something we should all work on collaboratively!?
