Question about the editor - Fixed

Hello everyone. I was hoping I could get a question answered. So, I have been using the player for a while now and I love almost everything about it, except for the fact that the one shots are so incredibly loud. I’m hoping that with the editor I can fix this blatant problem easily. So, I have a question:

I have all of the sound sets downloaded for the player. Do I also need to individually click on and “load” each soundset in the editor so that the editor library populates, or can i reference the folder used for the player. Is there a way to download them all with one click?

Thanks in advance for your time!

Hi @jamesrowand, there’s been a few conversations about the oneshots and I know that putting a volume slide on them is on the ‘list’ of upcoming changes. In an earlier thread Ben said a few things that might help sort out your problem.

*"Soooo two things may be happening:

  1. OneShots are mixed to the centre speaker, so if the centre channel is loudest oooor the left and right speakers are under powered then you’ll tend to turn up the volume more and more and then blow your ears off with the OneShots
  2. maybe you are adjusting the elements lower to make it sound good for you and then the unadjustable OneShots end up too loud.

Ways to fix:

  1. turn up the elements and resave each of the moods as louder so the OneShots end up relatively softer.
  2. become a supersyrin subscriber and use the SoundSet Creator to mix you own versions of the SoundSets with the balance how you like it

ALSO: the OneShots are meant to be louder than everything else. Something that draws the attention of the players to the sound.

NOTE: you can trigger elements to give you a sound by double clicking the play button. This will give you a normal (non standy outy) instance of the sound.

How does all that sound?

Oh yes, and we ARE planning to put a volume knob for the Oneshots in there at some point!"*

Personally I don’t have any problem with them on my set up but like Ben said it depends on your set up and personal taste.

With regards to the Creator you would need to download each one separately and then upload them as a copy of the original. The reason for this is that the samples used by the player are compressed and transcoded but the Creator uses OGG and WAV format so that you can add your own samples etc.

If you were to do it I’d recommend just doing it to the sets you use the most and keep bugging Ben to make sure the volume slider stays at the top of the list.

A download all button would be nice but in the uncompressed format the samples make for quite a chunky download so it hasn’t been done yet but again it’s something they can look at if enough of us would like to be able to download all of the content at once.

I hope that helps answer some of your questions?

Thanks @steve

And yes, @jamesrowand, if your OneShots are incredibly loud, then there might be something wrong with your speaker setup?
