Preview Sounds and odd crackling?

Is there a way to PREVIEW a sound before adding to the library? So I know whether or not it is appropriate for a scene? Nothing more annoying than firing up a sound in play only to get something totally unexpected that breaks immersion.

Also I noticed on the “Absalom Station” Soundset the “Docking Bay” sound had a lot of crackling in it. At first thought my soundcard or headset was damaged but its the soundset itself.

I don’t think you can preview. However, if you use something like Voicemeeter you could always “mute” the virtual cable/output if you are sending the audio to your players through discord/Kenku or something and preview it before you “go live” with the players.

Also, the soundset sounds fine to me so its possible it is just taxing your computer. I’ve found some soundsets still give me issues when trying to play as it is just too much for my computer.

The soundset you mention has 21 elements playing at once. Perhaps turn off a few of the elements until the sound isn’t crackling and you might be able to play it as modified.

Hope that helps!

Yes, exactly what @lordgwydione said. The crackling usually means that your computer is struggling and so the sounds become stilted and pop. That particular SoundSet has a lot of individual elements, which can be quite taxing on some devices.

Try turning off a few of the elements and see if that makes a difference. If it does, then save that as a new custom mood. That way you can start your lighter version just as you would with any of the original moods
