Pre-Download Campaign?

Hey there!
I am quite new to Syrinscape. I am playing the wild beyond the witchlight campaign and was happy to find out there are soundsets for it.

I created a campaign in the campaign manager and drag and dropped the soundsets in. I am using the web player and also a StreamDock so I can switch background music fast or trigger some sounds.

Recently we were playing at a friend and the wifi signal was quite bad and I had constantly issues with the sound. Often error messages which were just “0” .

Even tho I had internet, I had to reload the web player multiple times, often the loop just stopped playing and new sounds did not played at all. Is there a way to like pre-download all the campaign I created? So it does not rely that heavily on the internet connection?

It also takes very long to switch soundsets in the campaign. Even with good internet.

Hi @bungee-gilled-duct,

Glad you are enjoying Witchlight. Some really fun sounds in there!

Sooo… sounds like the Fantasy Player App is what you are looking for. You can install content in that, and then you don’t need any internet at all after that.

Does that option work for you?

Hey @benjamin

well, as far as I can see, there is no API for the fantasy player right? Because like I said, I am not using the laptop for dm’ing. To play the sounds and music I use a stream deck (similar to the elgato one) which is basically a programmable button keyboard. So I need some kind of interface to be able to play the sounds.

Also it looks like in the fantasy player there is no way to properly display only the soundsets of the campaign? I always see all possible soundsets.

Hi @bungee-gilled-duct (I’d love to know the background of this name)

  1. you CAN show campaigns in the Fantasy Player, click on that ALL SOUNDSETS at the top left and you’ll be able to select your campaign… hmmm… I wonder if we can make that more obvious in the UI(?)

  2. On PC you CAN control the Fantasy Player: switch on “3rd party integration” under the settings, which will bring up copiable links. These will, indeed only work on the device the Fantasy Player is actually running, that would mean making a laptop available to play the sounds. You maaaay be able to hack something where your laptop sits to the side and you port the calls to it(?)

The Web Player WILL rely on the internet it is subject to, as everything is triggered via our servers. Do note: that the BIGGEST traffic is the initial sample downloads when something new is called = once a sample is used once it is cached and doesn’t need to be downloaded again…

After that new info is sent:

  1. any time you click something
  2. every 3 minutes

NOT MUCH data is sent with these calls at all, so the data volume is VERY low. Might you set up a more reliable hotspot or something just for your playback device?

All these thinks… I’ll be interested to know how you get on! Let us know!

Good hunting! :japanese_goblin: :hammer: :pizza: :fire:

Aaah, I totally missed that. Thanks!

Ah thats perfect! Yeah the laptop is on the side, because the StreamDock is basically just a fancy programmable keyboard with fancy buttons that can trigger stuff on the laptop and is connected over USB-
