Online Player unresponsive

Hello there,

I am a using the Online Player with my D&D 5E group.

The problem I have is that an hour or so into our game the UI in Edge starts becoming unresponsive. I cannot start/stop an element and selecting a different mood is lagging really hard. This becomes a frustration and is distracting me from DMing, as I need to start troubleshooting.

Is there any way to work around this?

Thanks!

Hi @pedjaster,

That’s frustrating, I bet! :frowning:

Two questions before I dig further into this. :bug: :hammer:

  1. do you mean the Online Player or possibly the Web Player? What is the URL you are going to in your browser?
  2. does a REFRESH of the browser tab fix things up?
  3. what content are you running (is all content is problematic?) (or just some?)

In the meantime, work arounds include:

  1. refresh
  2. running a browser with NO extensions (some extension may conflict in unpredictable ways) = so if you NEVER use Firefox, consider installing that to run the Syrinscape Player in.
  3. Guest log in?

Those sorts of things.

Let me know if anything there helps.

Hello Benjamin,

answers below:

  1. I am using the Online Player, reached here https://syrinscape.com/online/master/#/?soundset=175794&element=2974305
  2. Unfortunately Refresh does not solve the issue. Sometimes I even close Edge completely and open the Online Player Master Interface once more to kind of jack it into working, but this does little to alleviate the unresponsiveness problem (if anything at all).
  3. I am running the officially released Curse of Strahd sound packs. Actually a copy of them, because some elements I have switched off. Previously this has been an issue with the Lost Mine of Phandelver set as well.

As for the workarounds:

  1. Refresh does not solve the issue unfortunately
  2. I have tried both Edge, and last week’s session Firefox as well. Edge has no extensions installed I am aware of. Using Firefox did not fix the issue.
  3. I am not sure what do you mean by “Guest Login”.

Would it make a difference to click End Game from the Online Control Panel and start the Game anew? I might try that tonight.

I very much appreciate your help here, because especially in Curse of Strahd, a horror themed setting it is really important to have right sound effects at the right moment. This is really frustrating at the moment.

Thanks,
Pedja

I would try closing down the tab and opening a new one. This (to me) seems to work better than Refresh (F5).

Also surprised that Strahd and Phandelver are struggling on the Online Player! That is were I built them many moons ago. Possibly a issue with overlapping samples playing rapidly, which is something the Web Player does not support (and something I do not do anymore). Hence the surprise that it is happening on the Online Player.

Well done for using your initiative and editing your own versions.

ps sorry for the frustration. :worried:
