"One-Shots" too loud. Any way to separately adjust? - HELP TESTING

@devon_cimini Yep and Yup! :+1:

Hi Benjamin, I am from germany and I am a Fantasy subscriber. I agreeā€¦ the one-schots are to loud. A volume Controller would be very nice, because I test it in our last session and some of my Players got an heartattack, as I press one of the Buttons on the right.
Keep up the good work. I love it. I use in the past a Amateur tool from Germany. Not bad and you can assign the sounds to soundbanks. One soundbank you can send each Sound to a letter on the Keyboard. I hope you understand what I mean. Sorry for my bad grammar. :frowning:

is the toolā€¦ works only on Windows XP. The Software is not supported any more in the last years, but it works very well on Windows xp.

Hi Afterbusiness, if your keyboard allows you to set up macros then you can set It up to trigger individual Syrinscape sounds or alternitvley you can set up a wiki page or even a word document to do it.

Go to options (little cog) at the bottom of the screen and click on enable 3rd party intergration. Little plus symbols should then appear next to each of the moods, if you click on these it will save a ULR in your clipboard which you can then paste into a wiki page, document or another program. When these ULRā€™s are activated it will then trigger the Syrinscape sound for you. I saved some as macros and have been able to get certain key presses to trigger the sounds.

Also one shots can be triggered by pushing the number keys, but I think thatā€™s just for the soundset one shots rather than the default ones if I remember right

Hey, just found this topic:
Is the separate volume-slider for the global oneshots still going to be implemented?
As others have noted before it would be awesome

Yesā€¦ still on our list.

Some work was done it, and then other things got above it on the list.

Iā€™ll look back at the dev tickets and give them a bump.

THANKS for the reminder!

Here is some additional information that might help. Iā€™ve found that whether the one-shots are too loud actually depends on the speaker setup. For example, if I play sounds through my laptopā€™s speakers, the one-shots volume is appropriate compared to other sounds coming from Syrinscape. On my PCā€™s powered speakers, it also sounds fine. However, when I use Bluetooth speakers (I use two UE Megabooms in stereo at the table - great surround sound!) the one-shots are much, much louder than other sounds. Even turning mood elements to 100% and turning down the global volume slider still results in one-shots that are dramatically louder (Iā€™d say 5-10x, subjectively) than everything else. As a result, Iā€™ve had to resort to turning my laptopā€™s volume way down temporarily before playing any one-shot. Note that it isnā€™t just one or two - everything from dragon roars to huzzahs are affected.

That said, a separate one-shots volume slider would address the issue if youā€™re not interested in figuring out the actual problem.

Ah cool.

I always figured it was a speaker setup problem.

For example if you have some fancy stuff that does different processing for positions thatā€™s likely to do strange things to the mix.

So fix somehow with your speakers, wiring!!! Ummmā€¦

The difference with the OneShots, is that they are almost always centered.

Q) A thoughtā€¦ have you tried different speaker setups in the app?

Hey, sorry for bringing this up again but the separate slider would be great so I just have to. Is this still in the works?

Thatā€™s a NO I guess?

No, not a noā€¦ just one the list and ready to go when we get down to it.

Everythingā€™s in an order, and gets done as time and money become available, at the moment we have been working on iOS release = keyword searching etc (completed yesterday),

AND a couple more VERY cool features we are about to launch (including the ability to be able to make Sci-Fi SoundSets appearing in campaign listings in the Fantasy Player - and vice versa). How cool is that?!?!

Then weā€™ll move onto our next stable release of the Creator.

And then on the next cycle of Player releases, this feature should pop back into the mix.

Cool?

I would just like to add in that the one shots being to loud issue is one i have as well. Three people in our group use the program and between us we use an Ipad, android phone, and laptop(sometimes with bluetooth speaker and sometimes without) and we have all encountered this issue. This added to the inability to stop long rambling one shots has greatly diminished how useful the one shots are. I would also love to see a single separate slider for the one shot sounds.

@TimmyCrackCorn @lovek323 @devon_cimini @schneiderpants @afterbusiness @Thomas
Hereā€™s something to try for you above having weird results with speakers making OneShots WAY to loud.

  1. There are speaker settings under the little cog. Try selecting mono.
  2. Try a direct (physical) cable to the speaker (rather than BlueTooth) and see if you are still getting the same result.

@egothatblockssun

You can stop a OneShot by selecting any MOOD, or by hitting PAUSE and then quickly hitting the MOOD you wantā€¦ again.

The long awaited OneShot volume slider coming soon to a Syrinscape near you. What do you think of the placement & look etc? Thereā€™s still time to tweak it for you?!

This looks great! Will it scroll down, i.e. disappear when scrolling up, or will it stay fixed at the bottom of the window? (Iā€™d personally prefer the latter. ) And will it affect all OneShots or just the general ones?

Itā€™ll stay fixed, so you wonā€™t have to scroll
