Login failed - Response was invalid - FIXED

I keep getting an error message when I try to login to the fantasy player: Login failed - Response was invalid []. I only get the message on my desktop PC (Win 10), the player works perfectly well on my Microsoft Surface (Win 10). Any ideas / solutions? Thanks!

It might be a glitch from this mornings server maintenance. Have you tried shutting it down completely and then attempting to open the program again?

I´ve been getting this error for over a week now. I uninstalled and reinstalled the player and i even reset the password. Still the same message. It all started after renewing my subscription (which has expired some 2 months ago) und trying to update to the new player version…

In which case @benjamin might need to check your profile on the server to make sure everything looks ok there. He should be on in a couple of hours or so (Australian time zone) and should be able to fix it for you :grin:

No glitches currently. (Apart from the scheduled gap in service last night).

So this error means Syrinscape is sending the log in request and is not getting a valid return from our server (something is happening to it on the way back).

Are you able to log in on a different device on the same network?

  1. No = it’s a problem with the network
  2. Yes = it’s a problem with the individual device = THIS is you.

Firstly… are you running the latest version? Should say 1.3.3-20160816 at the top of the settings.

  1. Is your password unusually long or complicated? Use a simpler one. Reset your password here: https://store.syrinscape.com/admin/password-reset/
  2. Are you super sure you’re entering things the right way. I went back and forth the other day with someone and eventually they sent me a screenshot showing they had an extra space before the . of their .com
  3. Don’t use autocomplete to enter your email address or password. Some devices have trouble with this (weird!).

I’d also check out:

  1. Firewalls
  2. Virus checkers
  3. Viruses such as Gorilla Ad virus which inserts extra content into pages (more common than you’d think).
  4. A proxy on the internet connection.

We’re not getting any other log in problem reports at the moment, so look into the stuff above.

It is a problem with the individual device (i.e. my desktop pc), no problems with my portable device over the same network. I made sure i got the latest version, and as I said, I already reset my password to a really simple one (8 digits). I never use autocomplete and the name/email adress is correct (triple checked it).
Before I renewed my subscription everything was fine, I never had any problems with my antivirus / firewall (Kaspersky), the fantasy player was running as it should and there haven´t been any changes to my system in the last few months (except an upgrade to Win 10, but even after that I didn´t have any login problems). I also did a complete virus check on my system, which returned no viruses.
I don´t have any problems logging in to your homepage from my desktop pc though, only the fantasy player isn´t working.

Any ideas left? Is there some kind of workaround? I can still use my portable device, so things aren´t too bad, but the desktop pc has got the better sound system, so it would be nice, if we could get it working again.

One more thing. I’ve cleared your Blessed Devices on the server.
