iPad @ Symbol Log-in Issue - Sci-Fi App - FIXED

Hello! Thanks for the fantastic product!

I just subscribed to the full package subscription and downloaded both the Fantasy and Sci-Fi apps to my iPad Mini 2. I had no problems logging into the Fantasy app, but for some reason when I tried to log into the Sci-Fi app, it doesn’t recognize the @ symbol in my email address. I type in my email address, but the app does not register the @, it just concatenates the gmail.com right after my handle with no @ in between.

I already tried deleting the app and reinstalling it. I also tried copying the email address from a text editor and pasting it into the field, but no dice.

I can send a screenshot, but would rather not do it on a public forum, since it shows my email address.

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

That is totally weird!!!

There are (obviously) LOTs of people signing into the Sci-Fi Player on the iPad all day long, and I haven’t heard this one before.

Sometimes Apple does weird autofill kinds of things, at what exact moment does it change your email address?

Are you hitting DONE after you type in the email address before you move onto the password?

OK. I’ve been able to reproduce this on my own iPad!

The code is precisely the same between the Fantasy and Sci-Fi Players apart from a switch of Genre tag and the interface graphics… so how this is [not] working I have no idea.

I’ve passed this along to Tai (our resident code genius) and we will work to fix this. @tai_admin

We actually have a scheduled update coming for all the players next week. So it’s great someone noticed this before that.

It only effects people who log out of the Sci-Fi Player or install new, and it may have arisen recently with an iOS update or something, so perhaps that’s why no-one else has noticed it yet.

NOTE: We have determined that the “@” does not show in the font we have chosen for the email log in details atm.

As long as the email address looks right when you type it in and hit DONE, just because the “@” is not showing, the App will still Log in, so don’t freak out!

Hopefully this thread will help another equally confused person sometime soon! :smile:

Hi there. Unfortunately this problem does not seem to be fixed for new users. I am also experiencing this as well and I receive an error message at the top of the screen that says, “you need to enter your syrinscape.com email address and password.” I’m pretty bummed as I did not discover this until after I had purchased one of your packages.

Hi Brett,

The invisibility of the ‘@’ will not stop you from logging in. We are absolutely sure of this.

So make sure you have entered both details correctly and hit ‘GO’ or ‘DONE’ after each one, depending on the device.
