If these Walls could talk - music

Hi-

It seems like the sound levels are set significantly higher on this music track than any other. I usually set them around 30-35% but I’m finding I need this track set around 5% for my group to be able to hear me (we’re playing over zoom).

Am I doing something wrong is this intentional?

Thanks!

Hi @rich,

Can you point me to the SoundSet where this track appears and I’ll check it out.

Hi @benjamin,

I actually used the exact name of the element in the subject. It’s used in cos Lands of Barovia.

However I should point out I tend to “homebrew” my campaign sounds and I’ve copied the element to my own soundset. I don’t know if that makes a difference.

I should point out I’m seeing this in all of the new COS music tracks. They are all consistent across the SoundPack but it seems to be louder than the music in your previous releases

Hello Rich,

Some of those pieces of music are deliberately louder to accentuate certain points in the games narration. Like the Mad Mage’s Mansion, Gates of Ravenloft and of course the Bravery in Barovia “heroes theme” that kicks in on the Old Svalich road. These, I see are opportunities to absorb the surroundings in sound with the text from the book. After it has played, there is the more subdued sounds of the area your heroes are in.

This is my effort to try and get a film like feel into your game.

Can I ask if this happens every time you click on this mood, that the music is really loud? I ask as I know that there was a bug that would come up every now and then. Playing a random element and 100% volume. After clicking on the mood a second time it would then reset to correct volume.

Hey thanks for the reply! So I should specify I’m actually “homebrewing” soundsets so I’m pulling the soundsets into my own creations.

It just seems that the individual sample volume set at 30% on other soundsets seems significantly quieter than the samples added with the Strahd soundsets. It’s not at individual points but more so overall.

I’m not sure if I’m explaining myself well here at all.

I understand now. In general, the music is louder than you’d normal like it to be. But thats the great thing about Syrinscape…you can tweak it to how you want it. =)
