Fantasy Player not importing soundsets

Hey wonderful people,

I have finally been forced into buying a new laptop after the last one literally fell apart, so have had to reinstall the Fantasy Player.
However, my soundsets are not showing up in them. I haven’t made any changes to the soundsets since they were last used in the Fantasy Player on my old laptop.
All four are gathered in a campaign called “Campaign 2”, which I can see at the top left of the Fantasy Player. But when I click it there are no contents. Additionally, they don’t show up in the “all soundsets” part either if I just search for the name.

I am logged in in the player itself, and have tried “reload” a few times.

Any assistance would be most welcome!

Firstly, congratulations on the purchase of your new laptop, exciting times ahead!

That said, this is very odd behaviour indeed! I just want to confirm, when you say the campaign exists in the Fantasy Player, but when you click, there is no contents, do you mean the SoundSet names to not appear? like this:

If so, is it possible you had a stray space character or something else in the search field under the Campaign selector? There is no real indication that is happening, but with a space in there, it filters out all the results which I imagine could be quite confusing. In this case I would also expect All SoundSets to also have no SoundSets listed.

Perhaps you meant the SoundSets were shown, like this:

But when you selected one of them, no Elements appeared? That seems like maybe the Player having difficulty fetching the details of the SoundSet in order to download all the relevant files. I do not know which version you used last on your previous laptop, but the latest version does this “fetch on demand” process, rather than having SoundSets be manually installed. In this case I would be expecting to see some sort of error alert appear though, so I am not convinced that is what is happening.

Do you recall if you were asked to unbless an existing device? I noticed you were at your device limit, but that should not have caused any issues assuming you were able to unbless an old device. In any case I have done that for you, and you should have no issues there now.

Are you able to try again and maybe give us some screenshots that help clarify what is happening for us? As you can see, I was not able to reproduce it myself, but would love to know what is going on. We will try to squash the goblins together

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the response!
It appears to be working now. Not sure if you worked some back-end magic or if restarting the player for the 6th time did the trick.
Happy it is solved, but somewhat frustrated that I have no idea why or what happened!
For any future cases of funkiness though, in case it is helpful:

  • The issue I had was that the soundset names didn’t appear, as per your first screenshot. I saw the campaign, but nothing underneath.
  • During the troubleshooting that I did yesterday I had restarted both laptop and program multiple times. So I don’t think it was that.
  • I also checked for sneaky spaces already. Wouldn’t be the first time after all.
  • The only thing I did after posting on the forum was opening the master interface and play the sound through the browser app version to test if that would work in case the app continued to not show. I don’t know it that somehow triggered a loading stage somewhere.
  • Otherwise I had no error messages.
  • It didn’t ask me to unbless the previous device. So there is also a chance that you condemning the previous laptop solved the issue.

Thanks again for your response! You can leave the goblins unsquashed, and I hope that the above is maybe somewhat helpful for the team or future users!

That’s fantastic to hear!

“Do you see the SoundSets in the Master Interface” was going to be my next follow up question after you had confirmed the SoundSet names were not appearing, so well done anticipating that debugging step on top of all the others I suggested. Should I be concerned you are looking to replace me?

I would not expect the device unblessing to have resolved anything, but the Goblins work in mysterious ways, so maybe. The Fantasy Player should be automatically blessing itself (up to 3 devices, and then asking to Unbless an old device after that), but seems like it should also have stopped you earlier than not seeing the SoundSets if that process somehow failed.

In any event, between that and you poking around the Master Interface, it seems to have come to life, so that’s great news :fireworks: :star2:
