Crossfader timing for seamless music randomis(z)ation - FIXED

Hi all,

Love pretty much everything about the creator but I’ve been trying and failing to do this one thing.

I want to cut up my background music into 20 second clips and then shuffle them so that we’ll get a different song each time round. I’ve given the music an extra 3 seconds at the start to fade nicely but when I set it to crossfade in 3 seconds in the creator, it doesn’t go as seamlessly as in my DAW.

With some experimentation, I’ve found it works a little better with 3.5 seconds but still not quite right.

Your thoughts? Bug or my bad?

I do this all the time.

I’ve found that “count from start” is the best way to do it, as (yes) the exact timings of crossfade amounts can tend to vary a little depending on what Syrinscape is off doing at the exact moment the crossfade comes up.

Check out my “Chess” music and also the “Ettin Battle” music for examples of it working correctly.

NOTE: Syrinscape is not optimised to be a sequencer, so exact musical timing is not its top priority, never-the-less it’s worked well for me on the two examples above.

I’d love to hear what you’ve built when it’s finished, so make sure you let me know when you’ve uploaded it, and I’ll have a listen.

Benjamin! Yes!

That is exactly what I needed. Just had to make them all the same length and voila.

I should probably learn to use ableton live the way I use syrinscape (lots of naughty copyrighted music) but that has fixed my predicament. Thanks for your usual speediness in replying, you rock.

I would like to share it but it is pretty much just royalty-full music. Sorry

Stay classy
