There are a few ways to use Syrinscape at your gaming table. One of them is the best one for you. But are you using it?!

I think this is a great overview. One question. What is the development/support thought on each of the applications? Do you envision all being supported going forward or any of them phasing out over time? Love the options!

So, the thinking is not entirely formed around this question, and there’s a will to see how people engage with each different thing and take that as a guide.

General approaches include:

  • We don’t want to abandon anything that people are using.
  • Nova is a brand new thing with a very different purpose that might server a whole lot of people who find the current available things TOO complicated and cumbersome. The concept of Nova is to serve those people while the other things keep going (for those people who like them).
  • atm the Master Interface (with sound running in the Online Player/Web Player) is where people import sounds and build custom content = this is a very important part of Syrinscape. We would never consider shutting this down until those capabilities are covered elsewhere. People might even one day build stuff that works in Nova (and for the moment that place will definitely still be there.)
  • The Fantasy Player is important for its ability to run offline AND the fantasy look and feel = quite a lot of people still use it as such.
  • But, indeed, as people can imagine, keeping multiple parallel codebases going can be hard = complicated, confusing, expensive. So having ONE codebase to rule them all is attractive.
  • Additionally, there’s a concept of Syrinscape looking the same everywhere… so the thing that is simple (Nova), the thing where you can build (Master Interface + Web Player) and the thing that works offline (Fantasy Player) ALL actually LOOK the same = i.e. it is easy to move between them.

There’s a few (definitely NON-official) thoughts.

I’d LOVE a discussion here that helps me (and everyone) get to what is the most useful take on all this.
