If it would be helpful to the community then we could definitely look into setting up a Trellis (or something similar) board. We are planning to give Community Content a big push very soon anyway so this might be a nice idea to go along with that. More details to follow soon
Sure start the doc. Iām just starting to read this and it looks like there will be a ton of variety here.
Iāll be happy to help as I have time.
Ok, I started a Google Doc that covers at a High level of what I see would cover the first level of the Dungeon. Obviously itās a really rough outline, with each of the moods needing to be matched to a set or more description added.
But Iād be interested in what others think of the format and how it could be improved/what else would be helpful to add.
Hereās the link:
There are so much that is out all-ready!
More Classic adventure types and creature monster types etc.
Maybe soundtrack collections and Un-dead volum -
Humanoids + more, Giant pack, Demon, Goblins, bugs, beasts and I miss more Orc love!
So any thoughts on the Content/format of the Google Doc?
Is it helpful?
Obviously itās going to take a long time to find all the sounds needed for each of these different one-shots/monsters and moods. But if others want to fill in, it might go faster.
I was thinking more along the lines of listing the adventure that was wanted and then taking a look at it and making it from scratch. Easier on the doc part harder on the person making it. But that was what I was going to do. Either way I think it works. I just think if we get this rolling then it will be community content till other arrangements are made.
This doc is PERFECT, @Scrubkai
What I need to know is:
- Which Monsters are vital? Maybe have 3 colours = gray not really needed, black for good to have, bold for super important
- OneShots that are important to have. Note the number of elements that normally fit into a single SoundSet
- Key MOODS (ie rooms with distinctive sound environment (every other location will be covered by a generic ambience for that level.
I plan to do ONE SoundSet per level. Soooā¦ usually 5 monsters per level is a good maximum amount for ease of use. Other creatures can be covered by a mood called āOther battlesā
All makes sense?
Soooā¦ everybodyā¦ letās get this doc done!!!
Are there any updates about this?
I finished preparing the first 3 levels (maps, physical props, encounters, mats/terrains/miniatures, cards, etc.) for my kids and some friend of theirs and Iād love to know if itās now time for the Soundset Creator sleepless nights (using the super useful google doc summary, thanks @Scrubkai) or if somethingās coming up
A release for this module is still at least 30 days awayā¦ so go ahead and get it done before me!
Sleepless nights then!
But your answer seems to indicate youāre going to release something. Have you got any hint to how many levels youāre going to publish? (I doubt my kids will rush through levels like a knife in the butterā¦)
Oo, yes, @doc, we are DEFINITELY going to release something.
I plan to release the levels in blocks of 5 (i think) (by memory)ā¦ so yes, hopefully I can catch up to you as we go alongā¦
And kill you mercilessly in your sleep
no-one will find your body on level 7!!!
Ah!
I think I already reached undead state while working on props for this module but feel free to turn me
Because I hadnāt seen signs that anyone is seriously looking at the Doc, Iāve just been slowly moving along on it as the mood strikes me compared to my other projects.
@doc @benjamin Are people planning on using Levels 5+ soon?
If so Iāll focus on the Doc and start moving through the levels more quickly as well as identifying other good base soundsets for the levels.
@Scrubkai, if youāre able to, please go on with the document. Iām preparing the adventure not by looking at one level after another, but by following side-quests and threads vertically throughout the whole dungeon. Thatās why I made up all of my notes for L1-3 plus Skullport. In fact some side-quests had me already have a look at L4-L6 and further along.
In a way, setting up the music altogether would be awesome (though Iāll admit Iām slowing down so that @benjamin can catch me with an official module )
@Scrubkai Soooā¦ wanna try out my first draft of Level 1?
btw the doc is AMAZING!!! THANK YOU sooo much for outlining these first levels, making my job really much more straightforward!
@benjamin of course Iāll be happy to review the draft.
As for the doc, Iām so glad itās working for you. I tried to think what would help me if I was building the soundset. If you run into problems/improvements you can think of while using it let me know and Iāll try to add those enhancements to the doc.
O.M.G. @Scrubkai
This is amazing! THANK YOU for your amazing work here!
These outlines are remarkably useful!
Thanks, mate!
@benjamin Iām so glad these help. You all do great work and Iām glad I can support that in my own small way.
If you see any formatting improvements that would help let me know so I can use them the next time I work through one of the modern releases.
But that could be a bit, as Iām not interested in the Fall D&D storyline, and my group isnāt moving to Pathfinder2 yet.
Loving DotMM levels 1-6. Using the Dragon Heist sound set, I added Yawning Portal and Xanathar as well to the custom campaign. This makes me want to buy the other levels of Mad MAge as well. Getting excited for those upcoming levels. I am so hooked on your great stuff. Why does Xanathar remind me of the Cheetotus?
I know it has been said, but @Scrubkai, your prepared chapter structure for Dungeon of the Mad Mage is a real gem! I am currently building level seven and your summary really helps starting these levels up!
Good and awesome work, mate!
