A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The

Hi Everyone,

I’ve got to tell you all this - my sister has a cat which has a habit of getting locked into cupboards and under the house. The cat meows to be let out and then we’ve got to search the house to find her and set her free.

Well, today my sister and mother were searching the house frantically because they could hear the cat - but they couldn’t find her! They asked me to stop “playing around on the computer” and come help them find the cat. So we’re all looking and we can’t find her and she’s stopped meowing, so after about 10 minutes we go back to what we were doing - and the cat starts meowing again.

And then it hit me - I was doing some tests of the new version on my DOE: Sound Extension which links in Syrinscape to the Fantasy Grounds VTT software and by shear chance I’d been using the 3PI link to the Battle Cries One-Shot from the Bugbear Battle Soundset - and if you have a listen (especially from another room) it does sound somewhat like a muffled meow!

So of all the 2300 possible sounds in Syrinscape I’d chosen the one to use in testing that sounds like a trapped cat and I was triggering it over and over and over again. Suffice it to say neither my mother nor my sister were particularly impressed.

And the cat? She was asleep in her favorite spot under a potted bush on the front veranda (porch for all you Americans)

Cheers

There is no HEART button strong enough for this post!!!

Haha oh dear! I bet they loved you for that one. Glad to hear though that I’m not the only one that gets scolded for “playing around on the computer” when I’m trying to work! :joy:

Awesome story! Ben, now we need cat sounds.

I used to get the “playing around on the compute” thing all the time. Now I’m a “distinguished software engineer”. So here’s to playing around on the computer!

You realize, dastels, that that’s an oxymoron, don’t you? “Distinguished” and “Software Engineer” don’t really go together.

A bit like “Expert Project Manager” or “Humble Network Engineer” (both of which I claim to be)

Seriously, I’m glad you found the story to your liking.

Cheers
