A few questions - everyone should READ THESE!

Hello,

It have been a will since i tried the soundset creator for the first time (beta 0.5). Now i would like to use it for the customisation of some existing soundsets and i need few precisions

  1. How can i close the creator properly ? for now i close the internet page and the soundset creator windows but there is still a soundset creator process running …
  2. what happen if i accidentaly edit a base soundset (like bugbear battle) in the creator ? How could i recover the unedited version ?
  3. Once i upload a soundset where can i find it on the website/on my devices ?

That’s all for now ! thank you !

Hi florian,

All good questions.

Definitely make sure you have 0.6 which you can download from the link at the top right of the website when you are logged in (as long as you are a SuperSyrin).

  1. To shut the creator down: Right click on the tray icon (little blue Siren) and seltect Quit. 0.5 would NOT shut down correctly like this, but 0.6 does.

  2. You can edit anything in the creator. To get a version of what matches the server, you can always download and install a new version from the gray list at the bottom. That’s why SoundSets do NOT disappear when you download and add them to the list at the top. As soon as you download a SoundSet, it becomes something that belongs to YOU, you can edit it, mess it up, mash it and then upload it to the servers as YOUR content.

  3. As long as it works correctly: once you click the little cloud, the SoundSet SHOULD appear in the appropriate player in no more than 10 minutes. You will find it right at the very bottom of your ALL SoundSets list… and remember you can create more campaign lists containing any of your SoundSets in any order on the website. If this doesn’t seem to work for you, ask for our help!

Ask more questions… you ask good ones!

Thank you ! i followed your advices and downloaded the last version

I have another question :

I would like to add some sample from my library. These sample consists in mp3 files, so i managed to convert them to .ogg (i also tried wav) before beeing able to import these in the creator. I tested the files and they were equivalent in quality in each format (128kHz, stereo)

But once i imported them in the creator the sound become awful : only mono, and with a lower quality (The syrinscape creators native samples are perfect).

I tried with 3-4 files, with different biterates, without any improvement …

What have i done wrong ? Are they some options i didn’t checked ?

Better to convert to wav 16bit 44.1K and let the Creator and server handle the transcoding.

There are lots of programs that will batch convert for you, so it’s just a single drag and drop. I plan to do some research and find the best free option for this.

ALSO: in the future we will continue to build the importer better and better so it can take more formats successfully.

A bit disapointed : I convert my files with your exact specification and the transcoding still result in an important quality loss (mono only, sound volume lost etc …) with a converted file of good quality (stereo etc…) when i read it with vlc/wmp.

Edit : My bad, it just seems the sample is converted to a lower volume. It also seems that disable 3D positioning help (not sure about this).

Also : i try to glide the sample from the library to the element library but only encountered mitagated success : i was barely able to add 1 sample (i had to try multiple type and from now i don’t konw how did i managed to add one to the list …) but i can’t add the second one.

Yes, for music, use disable 3D to get the full normal stereo spread.

Use the little left pointing arrow on the sample in the sample list to add the samples to the sample playlist.

@florian_turchet see if you can catch some of the demo videos I’ve been making for the Syrinscape SoundSet Creator, because a number of the pitfalls you’ve been unhappily falling into have been covered in them.

I’m MORE than happy to help out, but it’d be nicer for you if you don’t have to wait each time for answers when you could be getting this stuff straight the first time.

Maybe try this one:

Some of those…

Yup, watched the first one you made for 0.5, but didn’t see you made some others (i don’t use facebook, pretty hard to follow the news :flushed:)

I already tried the arrow to add a sample, with another random result. i finally managed to add the sound, can’t find why

Thank you !

OK. There’s a tutorial coming for Elements uploading to Facebook now, which is really important and as CLEAR as I could make it.

It’ll be up in an hour and I shall post it here!
